Crystal structure and its local symmetry determine macroscopic optical properties of inorganic compounds. Based on the structural features of previously reported optical materials, new inorganic materials are developed.
Research subjects
1. Design of Inorganic Luminescent Materials Activated with Transition-Metal Ions
In order to develop bright and stable emitting materials, new inorganic host materials are designed according to the ionic structure of the dopants.
2. Crystal Structure Analysis of Inorganic Luminescent Materials
Transition-metal ions doped into inorganic materials exhibit various emissions, based on its local structure. Association between optical properties and crystal structure is investigated by crystal structure analysis using spectroscopic tools.
3. Development of Photofunctional Glass Ceramics
Focusing on the moldability and workability, new glass ceramics is designed for developing high-functionality optical materials.
